Since 2011, I have served as the consulting CPA for Teeple Hall, LLP, concentrating on offshore reporting issues and other tax planning and compliance matters for individuals, businesses, and trusts. I have also served as the chief accountant for Spectral Cast, Inc., a manufacturer of tracking devices and other electronics, and Air Fusion, Inc., a software developer for the wind industry. I also served as the Controller for Helix Wind, Inc., a publicly traded manufacturer of “small wind” turbines.
Since 1989, I have owned and operated my own CPA practice, which includes the preparation of individual and business income tax returns, as well as consulting on various income tax and accounting matters. Throughout my career, I have functioned as the outside Controller for a wide array of small businesses. In my role as CPA at Teeple Hall, LLP, I have focused on offshore tax and reporting compliance, income tax, and business management and trust administration matters.
During my tenure with Teeple Hall and in conjunction with the sea-change in U.S. reporting and compliance requirements seen at the beginning of the 2000s, I have prepared the accounting and U.S. Income Tax returns associated with exceptionally complex offshore voluntary disclosure (OVDI and OVDP) matters involving reconciling extensive foreign brokerage account activity, converting this activity into U.S. Dollar translated reports from multiple foreign currencies, and performing, where applicable, the PFIC (Passive Foreign Investment Company) calculations necessary for the preparation of Form 8621 (Information Return by a Shareholder of a Passive Foreign Investment Company or Qualified Electing Fund) and for the reporting of PFIC activity on the corresponding U.S. Individual Income Tax Return.
In addition to comprehensive OVDI and OVDP matters, I have participated in numerous reporting engagements for U.S. citizens and resident aliens involving the preparation of FBARs (Form 114 – Report of Foreign Bank Accounts) and Form 8938 (Statement of Specified Foreign Financial Assets). I also have extensive experience in foreign trust reporting involving the preparation of Forms 3520-A (Annual Information Return of Foreign Trust With a U.S. Owner) and Forms 3520 (Annual Return To Report Transactions With Foreign Trusts and Receipt of Certain Foreign Gifts).
My responsibilities also include the preparation of U.S. Gift (Form 709) and U.S. Estate (Form 706) Tax Returns for Teeple Hall, LLP’s clients.
I hold an accounting degree from Kent State University and I am a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
